The Prison of the Past

Joseph faces a decision. Does he allow his past anger to consume him, or does he rise to be the protector and hero God has called him to be?

"Have you ever been trapped by the pain of your past? In Genesis 43, Joseph confronts this exact challenge. His brothers, who once sold him into slavery, now stand before him in desperate need of food during a famine. Joseph has every right to feel bitterness, but God has placed him in a position of authority for a reason. Will he let the past dictate his actions, or will he rise above his hurt? Joseph's story encourages us to reflect on how we handle past wounds. Do we allow anger and resentment to fester or choose forgiveness and grace? Joseph had the power to punish his brothers, yet he chose to test their hearts instead. Through this, we see the beginnings of reconciliation, showing us that forgiveness is not an overnight process but a journey of healing. Are there people in your life that you struggle to forgive?

Dr. H. Edwin Young was born and raised in Laurel, Mississippi and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of 12. While in college at the University of Alabama , he felt led by God to become a pastor, and transferred to Mississippi College to continue his education.
