Matthew 26:27-28
The Last Supper marks a poignant and pivotal moment in Jesus' ministry. He gathers his disciples to celebrate the Passover, a meal filled with deep symbolism and significance. During this meal, Jesus performs the humble act of washing his disciples' feet, teaching them the importance of service and humility. As they eat, Jesus predicts his betrayal, identifying Judas as the betrayer and urging him to act quickly. Despite the looming betrayal, Jesus remains composed, teaching his disciples about the coming of the Holy Spirit, who will guide and comfort them after his departure. Following the meal, Jesus prays earnestly for his disciples, interceding on their behalf and expressing his deep love and concern for their future. He then leads them to the Garden of Gethsemane, where he prays with such fervor and anguish that his sweat becomes like drops of blood.
